Police College Honors 53 Distinguished Students

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, December 27th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Police College honored a number of its distinguished students in academic, behavioral, and leadership fields. This step falls within the College’s strategy that aims to adopt and encourage creative staff. Brigadier Waleed Salim Al Shamesi, Director General of the Police College in Abu Dhabi awarded 53 students and a number of personnel and civilians with certificates and commemorative gifts.

Brigadier Al Shamesi asserted that the College is committed to continue working on implementing all standards required under the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program. The College is also keen to continuously respond to the police leadership vision to realize the MoI strategy and implementing it. This is realized via educating and training qualified staff capable of translating the plans and policies to a better future.

“We are delighted to honor our sons and daughters who realized distinguished levels in academic, behavioral, and leadership fields,” he said. “We trust their capacities as they are equipped with science and knowledge, and have received advanced training. With the doubling of their responsibilities, the role of and duties of the police authorities is also doubling, due to the comprehensive development of the UAE under the umbrella of our wise leadership, and due to the development of crime methods. Globalization has also resulted in negative and positive practices, some of which are unconventional criminal acts that were added to the conventional criminal methods.”

He also noted that maintaining developmental gains urges us to develop tools and technologies of fighting crime in order to maintain safety of the society. He also said that the College is committed to reviewing and developing assessment standards regularly in order to keep pace with modern changes in training, administration, quality, and excellence on individual and institutional levels. For this reason we are interested in building intellectual capabilities that is competent, skillful, professional, and science-based.

He also pointed out that the Police College throughout its 30-year journey has, and still, participated to building modern police forces based on sound strategic, scientific, and methodological planning that is capable of keeping pace with developments and changes of our modern era. The Police College succeeded in preparing and habilitating national dedicated staff that can counter various aspects of crime, take up the responsibilities of police work, and contribute to protecting stability of the UAE by maintaining security under the rule of law.

For his part, Lt. Colonel Muhammad Butti Al Shamesi, Head of the Media and Public Relations Section at the College said: “parallel to the ‘Reading Initiative’ launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; we distributed today 200 books on the audience. The materials of these books covered history, social, and security topics. We are also preparing for an Arabic calligraphy courses next month, as well as other initiative for teaching Arabic language, mobile library, and other initiatives that will help building positive active characters.

The event was attended by heads of departments, chiefs of sections, officers, lecturers, as well as personnel and civil attendees. The activities started with the honorees entering the arena, and after playing the national anthem, verses of holy Qur’an were recited. After that, certificates and gifts were awarded to the honored individuals.
