20by2020 Improves Water Quality in Rural Communities of Madagascar

 • Beneficiary communities include Students, Village Residents & Healthcare Workers

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates,-Monday 30 November 2020 [ AETOS Wire ]

To help tackle the prevailing challenge of access to potable water in remote communities of Madagascar, the UAE-driven humanitarian initiative; 20by2020, recently installed ‘Safe Water Cube’ fountains across five rural areas of the East African country, with the aim of improving the quality of life for approximately 8,500 people on a daily basis.

The Safe Water Cube fountains are based on a filtration technology for surface waters, and were developed by the Agir Ensemble Association, a prominent France-based non-profit organisation and the 2019 Zayed Sustainability Prize finalist under the ‘Water’ category. Four fountains have been installed in schools including St. Joseph School in Antsirabe and schools in Vohitrarivo, Ambohijafy and Ambohijafy Talata Andraikiba that are also accessible to local village residents. In addition, a fountain has been setup for the patients and healthcare workers at a hospital in Andraikiba.

The non-profit’s five-step mobile ultrafiltration technology makes surface water drinkable (river, pond, well or brackish water) by removing viruses and bacteria that cause diarrhea, dysentery, cholera and hepatitis, from up to 1,000 litres of water per hour with no energy or maintenance required, and no chemicals used.

In Madagascar, more than 58% of people lack access to safe drinking water and nearly half of all households live without sanitation facilities, according to international estimates.

Building on the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan by exemplifying the deeply rooted humanitarian values of the UAE’s founding father, 20by2020 donates sustainable technologies and solutions to vulnerable communities in 20 countries. Each solution or technology has been recognised by the Zayed Sustainability Prize as a winner or finalist.

H.E Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, UAE Minister of State and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), a founding partner of the initiative said: “The 20by2020 deployment in Madagascar is a vital and life-improving project that serves to meet the essential water needs of numerous remote communities through innovative sustainable solutions, positively impacting their health and wellbeing.”

“The overall 20by2020 programme is aligned with the UAE’s Sustainable Development Agenda and brings to life the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s humanitarian vision of helping those communities in need and transforming lives by leveraging technology and sustainable solutions. I am glad that we are able to work closely with partners once again to introduce meaningful initiatives that develop a more sustainable and healthier world.”

On his part, Honorable Vonjy Andriamanga, Madagascar’s Minister of Energy, Water and Hydrocarbons said: “Enhancing the scope of water treatment solutions for rural areas has been a priority and key focus area for the Malagasy government on both a regional and national level as part of our commitment to reaching Sustainable Development Goals related to water, sanitation and hygiene. We firmly believe that the support of the 20by2020 initiative will complement our efforts in improving the quality of life for people in various remote parts of the country.”

“The Ministry and Malagasy government would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the UAE’s leadership, the Zayed Sustainability Prize and the 20by2020 partners for commissioning these important, life changing solutions, and we look forward to working closely on other future sustainable projects.”

Thousands of village residents, hospital patients and medical workers in Madagascar’s Vakinankaratra central region can now avoid many of the waterborne diseases and other health issues stemming from dirty water, by offering new opportunities for better hygiene, an essential requirement given the importance of handwashing in preventing the spread of coronavirus. The deployment follows the recent installation of Safe Water Cube fountains in Cambodia’s Preak Toal, Meat Khlar and Peak Kanteal villages in September, that provided access to clean water to 5,000 people daily.

20by2020 brings together a leading and growing roster of partners which include Abu Dhabi Global Market, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Mubadala Petroleum, the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence and Masdar. Majed Al Futtaim had joined the initiative in support of projects in Egypt and Jordan, earlier this year.

New Studies Conclude Xlear Kills and/or Deactivates SARS-CoV-2

 MIAMI-Monday 30 November 2020 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- New in vitro studies, led by renowned authority on respiratory diseases, conclude Xlear nasal spray is “an effective...and replicable means to deactivate SARS-CoV-2...to an undetectable amount of infectious virus.” This conclusion is “validated by two independent sets of experiments, performed by different labs, on different viral strains...” The Virucidal studies were independently funded.

“The Virucidal Studies shed important light on the role Xlear can play in helping combat the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Gustavo Ferrer, who is leading the research team.

State of scientific research:

Nasal sprays, such as Xlear, reduce viral load in the nose, which is vital in fighting COVID-19. Research shows COVID-19 primarily infects and spreads through the upper respiratory system. By reducing viral load in the nose, nasal sprays help limit the severity and transmission of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamaotolaryngology/fullarticle/2768627.

Xlear’s components are antiviral—they block viral adhesion in the nose. See, for example, https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.08.19.225854v1.full.pdf. This Univ. of Tennessee study on SARS-CoV-2 concluded: “antiviral nasal sprays...contribute reduce...viral load...slowing down disease progression...and transmission...”

Peer-reviewed case studies indicate Xlear helps in treating COVID-19: First-look trial at Larkin Community Hospital (Miami), determined: “symptomatic, COVID-19 patients, treated with [Xlear], as an adjunct to...[standard care],” showed “rapid clinical improvement and shorten[ed] time” to negative COVID-19 PCR tests. https://www.cureus.com/articles/43909-potential-role-of-xylitol-plus-grapefruit-seed-extract-nasal-spray-solution-in-covid-19-case-series.

Xlear has been used for over 20 years by millions of people worldwide without a single significant adverse incident report.

“Building on the existing data, these Virucidal Studies show Xlear is not just antiviral, it is virucidal (kills/deactivates SARS-CoV-2). This combination of antiviral and virucidal capabilities is an important one-two punch in fighting the virus,” said Nathan Jones, CEO of Xlear. “With the pandemic raging worldwide, we must use every tool we can to fight it. Failing that needlessly risks millions of lives. Weighing our 20-year safety record, against the risks of this deadly virus, it’s clear Xlear needs to be in widespread use,” Jones concluded.

Thales to Deliver the World’s First Fully Integrated Unmanned Mine Countermeasures System for the Royal Navy and French “Marine Nationale”

 • France and the United Kingdom marked the tenth anniversary of the Lancaster House treaties by signing a joint contract for Thales to launch the production of the MMCM (Maritime Mine Counter Measures) program, under Phase 2. Phase 1 initiated in 2015 was to demonstrate and qualify the technology.

• With this contract, French and British Navies equip themselves with the world’s first fully integrated unmanned mine countermeasures system of systems.

• The system has been tested and demonstrated under real operational scenarios at sea in France and the United Kingdom.

• Thales, together with its main partners (ECA Group, L3Harris and Saab), is now awarded to deliver these systems starting from 2022 to the Navies.

PARIS LA DÉFENSE-Sunday 29 November 2020 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Following the first phase of the program in which two demonstrators have successfully proven their operational performances at sea, France and the United Kingdom marked the tenth anniversary of the Lancaster House treaties by signing a joint contract for Thales to start the production phase of MMCM to deliver eight unmanned mine hunting systems (four for France and four for the United Kingdom).

With the threat of mines and improvised explosive devices present in all conflicts involving naval forces, countries need to strengthen the protection of their maritime domain, to ensure the protection of their assets and to safeguard the freedom of civil navigation. At the same time, it is essential to limit human exposure to mines. With 50 years of expertise serving navies around the world, Thales develops technologies that enable the transition from conventional solutions, such as minehunters, to unmanned solutions. The MMCM program is the first step in the renewal of the operational concept for mine warfare in France and the United Kingdom, based on the use of unmanned systems which could potentially replace traditional minehunters.

This is a step change in capability, improving performances, productivity and removing the need to place members of the armed forces in harm’s way. It strengthens the leadership of the French Navy and Royal Navy as world leaders in both mine hunting and unmanned systems in the maritime domain.

The subsystems developed for the programme by Thales and its partners include Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USV) to transport and connect solutions and a cutting-edge sonar (SAMDIS) offering unique Single Path Multi View capability to identify and classify threats. The SAMDIS sonar can be carried by Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) or by Towed Synthetic Aperture Multiviews (TSAM) vehicle operated from the USV. The USV can also carry a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) to neutralize the threats. The entire system is remotely supervised by operators working from a Portable Operational Centre (POC) capable of controlling up to three systems in parallel at sea.

MMCM is the only proven system to offer advanced technologies, including autonomy, to improve performance and productivity thanks to the combination of unrivalled real time user experience using big data exchanges with trusted augmented artificial intelligence (A2I) to provide huge improvement of customer trust in operation clearance and increase the security of national interests. As a result of Thales’s open-architecture approach to MMCM, these new technologies can be easily integrated into the overall system, providing the navies with the opportunity to introduce new operational capabilities, in a planned way, throughout the life of the system.

After the success of the first configuration conducted under real operational conditions with the complete system, Thales is now fully committed to deliver the first operational systems to French and British navies by 2022. This program testifies of the exemplary cooperation between the two states and industrial teams and anchors Thales’s unique expertise and World leading position in conventional MCM, supporting over half the world’s anti-mine vessels with over 300 systems in service.

“Thales is grateful to France and the United Kingdom for trusting such an important technology transition with the Thales teams in France and the UK. To date during trials, the MMCM systems and its assets have covered the equivalent of 30.000 soccer fields at sea, sometimes with very rough sea conditions. This is indeed a step change in how Navies will be able to respond in the future to vicious threats such as mines and improvised explosive devices at sea.” Alexis Morel, VP Underwater Systems, Thales.

Last and Final Victory for Sisvel Before the German Federal Supreme Court (BGH) In the Sisvel vs Haier Cases

 LUXEMBOURG-Thursday 26 November 2020 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Yesterday the German Federal Supreme Court heard the oral arguments in another patent infringement case between Sisvel and Haier regarding Sisvel’s request for injunctive relief for infringement of cellular standard essential patents (SEPs) it owns. The decision rendered yesterday marks the final decision regarding Haier’s infringement of Sisvel’s European patent EP 1 264 504 (“EP 504”), and the related FRAND defense after a 6 year long legal dispute.

Prior to this verdict, the BGH (1) confirmed the German part of Sisvel’s EP 504 valid on April 28, 2020, (2) confirmed the German part of Sisvel’s EP 0 852 885 B1 (“EP 885”) valid on March 10, 2020, and (3) reversed the Düsseldorf Court of Appeal’s 2017 decision that wrongly considered Haier a willing licensee on May 5, 2020. In the motivation of the BGH May 2020 decision, it provided helpful guidance on certain aspects of the FRAND negotiation process (see https://www.sisvel.com/news-events/news/clarifications-on-licensing-of-standard-essential-patents-german-federal-supreme-court-issues-its-final-ruling-in-sisvel-vs-haier-case). Yesterday, the BGH not only confirmed the infringement of EP 504, but also reconfirmed its positions taken in the May 2020 decision.

“Sisvel’s approach has been fully vindicated. Nothing is left to be judged by the BGH in the various Sisvel ./. Haier cases, and we can affirm today that Sisvel was right in protecting a level playing field, seeking all the available remedies.” said Mattia Fogliacco, President of Sisvel International S.A.

“We welcome that the BGH has confirmed its position, and are keen to receive additional guidance, if any, once the motivation of the decision will be made public. But the impression of our lawyers at the hearing was very positive and the verdict speaks for itself. One key element on which great guidance has been already provided relates to Haier’s request for referral to the European Court of Justice for further clarifications, which has been turned down. The BGH rendered its verdict, evidently seeing no need of such referral” said Florian Cordes, Head of European Litigations at Sisvel, “In our view, it couldn’t now be more clear: implementers have the obligation to actively participate in the negotiation process and cannot refrain from concluding a license on FRAND terms.”

About Sisvel’s MCP Licensing Program
The patents asserted against Haier are part of Sisvel’s “Mobile Communication Program” (MCP) and are available under license with its bilateral “Wireless” program as well. The Sisvel MCP is a licensing platform that licenses cellular (2G, 3G, 4G) standard essential patents, which are owned by a variety of companies, including Airbus DS, Fraunhofer, KPN, Mitsubishi Electric, Orange, Sisvel, Wilus and 3G Licensing.

♥IDEMIA’s groundbreaking innovation reinforces its digital ID portfolio and paves the way for a future ICAO standard covering use of smartphones and other connected devices.

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Digital Travel Credentials make traveling between airports and airlines a more enjoyable experience and bolsters passenger trust in airport services and systems. On 10-11 November 2020, at the ICAO virtual conference, IDEMIA demonstrated with an airline partner its breakthrough innovation capabilities to present a fully operational solution, bringing DTC to life.

Leveraging its Mobile ID solution and passenger flow facilitation solutions, IDEMIA simulated a passenger DTC for check in and smart boarding. Passengers can speed through all airport touchpoints thanks to fast and ultra-secure biometric identification. IDEMIA’s DTC treat private data with the same security level as for paper passports.

“This DTC demonstrator illustrates the innovative capabilities of IDEMIA to perform a highly secure, reliable and smooth identity verification of travelers at airports. Coupled with automated gates, DTC both reduce waiting time and ensure a pleasant passenger journey. We are very proud to carry out this first-of-the-kind experimentation that confirms IDEMIA’s technological leadership in the ID market and open the path for a new way of traveling in the future” said Philippe Barreau, IDEMIA Group Executive Vice President Public Security & Identity.

The 2019 International Air Transport Association (IATA) Global Passenger Survey showed that seamless travel is a top priority for passengers. 72% are in favor of automated gates because they speed up immigration controls and shore up security. 70% would also be willing to further extend the role played by biometrics in smoothing their journey, taking advantage of more personal services and viewing accurate up-to-date travel details. IDEMIA DTC provide the power to sooth many passengers’ fears.

More about IDEMIA’s DTC

A world first: a mobile and government identity travel credential

The DTC work together with a national digital ID app to ensure data accuracy and build confidence. Passengers can set up their own DTC via their smartphone, either from home or in person with the help of the issuing authority. When at home, the app reads passenger ePassport chips to retrieve private details in full compliance with ICAO standards. Identity is then guaranteed by a biometric face match.

A seamless and contactless airport passenger experience

At home or anywhere, passengers check in on the airline’s website using their smartphone. At the airport, they pass through automated border gates through face matching. Passengers’ identity is checked with their smartphone, which slashes checking time by more than two thirds.

In its sixth year, a growing international coalition underlines significant harm to health caused by iron deficiency

Impact on women moves up political agenda at REYKJAVÍK GLOBAL FORUM - WOMEN LEADERS 2020

This year the focus is on raising awareness of symptoms, importance of diagnosis and readily available treatments

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Regulatory News:

Vifor Pharma is marking the sixth anniversary of Iron Deficiency Day, focused on raising international awareness of the serious health impact of iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia1 – with the support of international organizations including Global Heart Hub, Anaemia Community, the Heart Failure Policy Network and Croí, the West of Ireland cardiac foundation. Iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia affect an estimated one in every three people worldwide2, with pre-menopausal women, pregnant women and children under five most likely to be affected.6

Silvana Koch-Mehrin, Founder of Women Political Leaders, said: “Iron deficiency in women remains a global problem. It is a debilitating condition that can easily be treated. It is important for women around the world to listen to their bodies, and take the time to educate themselves on what is normal, and what could be caused by a lack of iron. The role of politicians is important in finding appropriate solutions. To this end, Women Political Leaders published a toolkit highlighting target areas for political action, in addition to producing a step by step plan of action. Discussions on the topic continued at this year's Forum Leaders Talk on Driving Equality for a Healthy Society. We look forward to continuing our work in this area in 2021.”

“Iron Deficiency is a highly prevalent and potentially very serious condition that can have a significantly negative impact on health and wellbeing.” said Neil Johnson of the Global Heart Hub. “It is easily diagnosed and very treatable, yet many people suffering from heart failure often dismiss the symptoms of iron deficiency as things to be expected when suffering from heart failure, especially fatigue and breathlessness. Iron Deficiency Day is a great initiative to help educate people on the importance of recognizing the symptoms and encouraging them to seek diagnosis and medical help from their physician.”

“We are proud to have a growing coalition of partners joining us in marking Iron Deficiency Day 2020. Together we have a strong voice underlining iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia as a major threat to health, particularly among women. Our common objective is helping people around the world to lead better and healthier lives,” Stefan Schulze, CEO of Vifor Pharma Group comments.

A new website takeironseriously.com has been launched to educate individuals and healthcare professionals on the symptoms of iron deficiency, demonstrate the ease of diagnosis and encourage people to seek treatment to protect their health.

Iron plays a vital role in many bodily processes, including the production of red blood cells, effective heart and brain function, and the prevention of infection and illness. Without enough iron the body is unable to function properly. Common symptoms include fatigue, dizziness, and shortness of breath. Iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia is estimated to affect one in three people worldwide2, yet despite the serious consequences and high prevalence3, it remains an under-recognized condition.

About iron deficiency

Although iron deficiency can affect anyone, it is most prevalent in premenopausal women, pregnant woman and children under five6. Left untreated, it can develop into iron deficiency anemia. The effects of iron deficiency differ from person to person, but can be linked to an overall decline in general health and well-being8. Even without anemia, iron deficiency can be debilitating, exacerbate an underlying chronic disease and lead to increased morbidity and mortality4. Common symptoms include fatigue5, 8, 9 pale skin5, brittle nails5,10,craving non-food items such as dirt, clay and ice11, and an inability to concentrate7,8. In children, iron deficiency can significantly impair cognitive and motor development12.

Northern Data AG Commissions First Data Center in the Netherlands

- Significant expansion step due to high demand for HPC infrastructure

- Further locations shortly before commissioning

- Computing power of 404 Petaflops by the end of Q1/2021

FRANKFURT AM MAIN, Germany-Thursday 26 November 2020 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Northern Data AG (XETRA: NB2, ISIN: DE000A0SMU87), a leading provider of High-Performance Computing (HPC) solutions, is commissioning its latest HPC data center near Maastricht. This new facility will entail one of the largest GPU clusters worldwide and will be the Company's first data center location in the European Union. The Company will begin installing the first hardware for its GPU-based Distributed Computing Cluster from the beginning of December. The GPU cluster is one of Northern Data AG's most significant expansion steps and is expected to be scaled up by the end of Q1/2021 to achieve computing power of 404 Petaflops (FP64). With this level of power, it will be one of the largest GPU clusters of its kind worldwide. The world's most powerful supercomputer, Japan's Fugaku, has a computing capacity of 415 Petaflops.

As CEO Aroosh Thillainathan commented: "With the smooth and rapid expansion of our GPU cluster, now including our first European location, we are moving to meet the very high demand for stable, reliable and cost-efficient High-Performance Computing infrastructure. Our highly specialized teams have done an excellent job over the past few months to lay this foundation for future growth in a very short timespan. We are well on course, and thanks to our GPU cluster, we shall be offering HPC services in the fields of artificial intelligence, deep learning, research and rendering as early as the first half of next year, with maximum scalability and optimum time- and cost-efficiency."

The cooling technology to be deployed in the Netherlands data center is based on an air-cooling system developed by the Company itself, which delivers an excellent PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) figure of between 1.05 and 1.04. The PUE value indicates the level of energy being consumed by a computing facility relative to the energy actually delivered to the computing equipment. PUEs of 2.0 are regarded as average, 1.5 as efficient and figures less than 1.2 as very efficient.

In addition to the proprietary cooling technology, the Maastricht facility will make use of Northern Data's own management software, which enables the documentation and rapid configuration and commissioning of the server hardware. The software automates the entire process of continuously optimizing the operating parameters of the servers and the entire HPC data center itself.

This new facility in the Netherlands is the first of several new locations for Northern Data AG, which, due to the high demand, also intends to establish HPC data centers in Germany, Scandinavia and Canada.

About Northern Data:
Northern Data AG develops and operates global infrastructure solutions in the field of High-Performance Computing (HPC). With its customer-specific solutions, the company provides the infrastructure for various HPC applications in areas such as bitcoin mining, artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data analytics, IoT or rendering. The internationally active company was formed from the merger of the German company Northern Bitcoin AG and the American company Whinstone US, Inc. and is today a leading provider of HPC solutions worldwide. Northern Data offers its HPC solutions both in large, stationary data centers and in mobile high-tech data centers that can be set up at any location worldwide. KGaA, for $2.175 billion in cash.

This divesture follows a strategic review of non-core assets ViacomCBS undertook early in 2020. Proceeds from the transaction will be used to invest in ViacomCBS’s strategic growth priorities, including in streaming, as well as to fund the dividend and pay down debt.

This transaction is the outcome of a highly competitive auction that attracted interest from buyers around the world, reflecting Simon & Schuster’s position as one of the world’s best known publishing brands. Its portfolio of best-selling authors includes Stephen King, Doris Kearns Goodwin and Jason Reynolds, and it owns a rich backlist of perennial favorite titles such as Catch-22 and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

The transaction is expected to close in 2021, subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. Upon close, Simon & Schuster will continue to be managed as a separate publishing unit under the Penguin Random House umbrella, and Jonathan Karp, President & CEO of Simon & Schuster, and Dennis Eulau, COO and CFO, will continue at the helm of the publishing house.

 • U20 Chair says he is confident next Italian presidency will carry the Urban20 2020 legacy forward, building on the record-breaking work led by the Saudi Presidency.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia-Thursday 26 November 2020 [ AETOS Wire ]

The Urban20 (U20) Chair, His Excellency Fahd Al-Rasheed, President of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City has today wished his Italian counterparts good luck or “Buona Fortuna” as Italy prepares to take up the reins of the 2021 G20 Presidency and the engagement group of cities, the U20.

“The city of Riyadh is immensely proud and honored to have Chaired the 2020 U20. We are proud of the progress we made together as the U20 of 42 cities and 30 think tanks, universities, and multi-lateral entities.   We collaborated, innovated and found common ground.  We discussed challenges and solutions experienced by cities across every continent.  We focused on the common goal of rebuilding better. As we worked to bring urban issues to the fore, a record 39 mayors and representatives of leading cities endorsed the 27-point U20 Communiqué.  Rome and Milan were involved each step of the way and are excellently positioned to build further on this momentum and body of work.”

U20 Chair, His Excellency Fahd al Rasheed further explained that the Saudi G20 mantra of “realizing opportunities of the 21st century for all” was enthusiastically adopted and deepened by the U20 delegations working throughout the year on three themes: “Inclusive Prosperous Communities”; Circular, Carbon-Neutral Economies”; and “Nature-Based Urban Solutions”.

He added: “When cities were challenged by the pandemic, the U20 established a Special Working Group on COVID-19 to develop an action-oriented response. The primary recommendation was the development of a Global Urban Resilience Fund, the first fund by cities, for cities.  The cities of Riyadh, Buenos Aires and Rome are developing the Fund to combat the pandemic and mitigate urban shocks by accelerating the transmission of learning and ideas among cities for a more secure and resilient future for all urban residents.”

Advanced Technology Research Council Announces ‘ASPIRE’ – to Drive the Creation of Future Transformative Technologies

• ASPIRE frames problem statements with cross-sector industry stakeholders, universities and research institutes

• Serves as a technology programme manager for R&D projects and designs with international competitions

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates-Wednesday 25 November 2020 [ AETOS Wire ]

The newly established Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) has today announced its plans to drive the creation of future transformative technologies with the launch of its dedicated technology programme management pillar, ASPIRE.

ASPIRE works in consultation with cross-sector industry stakeholders to frame problem statements that can be solved through research and development. By defining the problem, setting milestones, and monitoring the progress of the projects, ASPIRE facilitates a clear path from ‘lab to market.’ ASPIRE will make impactful decisions related to the selection of research partners and the allocation of funding. It will ensure that its R&D priorities align with Abu Dhabi and the UAE's broader development goals.

ASPIRE will also launch grand challenges which will bring together local and global innovators to work on crucial research that aims to solve the world’s most pressing problems. Spearheading such competitions will strengthen Abu Dhabi and the UAE’s position as an international hub for advanced technology research.

In three months since the first Advanced Technology Research Council board meeting, ASPIRE has started designing several grand challenges and international competitions in advanced technology. ASPIRE will also run the Mohamed Bin Zayed International Robotics Challenge (MBZIRC), the biennial international robotics competition which has a US$5 million prize fund. In addition, ASPIRE is set to launch a global competition in partnership with the XPRIZE Foundation. Exclusive Networks Acquires Nuaware to Accelerate Cloud and DevOps Opportunities for Channel and Vendor Partners

Disruptive streak continues with unique DevOps distribution play combining Nuaware skills with Exclusive Networks scale and services

PARIS & LONDON-Wednesday 25 November 2020 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Exclusive Networks today announced the acquisition of Nuaware, a hyper growth, born-in-the-cloud distributor at the bleeding edge of cloud, DevSecOps and containerisation. The move adds immediate global scale and services capability to the Nuaware proposition and portfolio, while enabling Exclusive Networks, its vendors and partner community with a unique skill set for capitalising on immense demand shifts brought about by digital transformation.

Jesper Trolle, CEO at Exclusive Networks said: "DevOps tool chains, containers and the emergence of DevSecOps are specialist areas where Nuaware has carved a truly unique niche in distribution. This acquisition puts us where we want to be in this space, giving our partners a readymade on-ramp into new high-growth opportunities. Large vendors being drawn to these markets are seeking turnkey channel solutions, and their established partner ecosystems have technical skills gaps that demand credible support. We can now meet these kinds of challenges far more effectively, while continuing to accelerate growth for the next waves of disruptive technologies in secure, trusted digital infrastructure.”

Nuaware was founded in 2016 by Zaheer Javaid and Luke Hasty and has grown exponentially since then through its work with vendors including HashiCorp, Docker Enterprise (now Mirantis), Instana, Portworx (recently acquired by Pure Storage) and Twistlock (now Palo Alto Networks Prisma Cloud). The company's London-based team, which works with both large service providers/systems integrators and a network of specialist DevOps consultancies on implementations around the world, will carry on operating as a distinct business unit under the Nuaware brand and continue to target disruptive new technologies and partnerships with emerging high-growth vendors such as, for example, Gremlin and StackPulse in areas such as chaos engineering and SRE automation. Its high-value services, including lead detection, business development, solution design, implementation, professional services and comprehensive training courses, will complement those from Exclusive Networks and vice versa.

Zaheer Javaid, Co-Founder and Director at Nuaware said: “We’re very pleased to be joining the Exclusive family and believe this is the best way to continue scaling up our proposition and bringing optimum value to all our customers and partners. The timing is right – the rapid onset of digital transformation among enterprises has got much faster in 2020, bringing Nuaware and the DevOps, cloud automation and containerisation technologies we specialise in, to an inflection point. With Exclusive’s support, we can aim higher, grow faster and invest more in extending our uniqueness in the market.”

“In terms of culture, attitude to innovation and the capacity to create unique value in the context of technology and market disruption, Nuaware is very much like Exclusive Networks,” said Andy Travers, EVP Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Exclusive Networks. “Teaming up this way is great news for partners of both companies, including the strategic vendors we have in common: Palo Alto Networks and Pure Storage. We anticipate significant organic growth from the Nuaware business by supporting its plans for continued expansion globally, and see many additional commercial benefits from extending their know-how across and into more opportunities with Exclusive Networks vendors and resellers.”
