ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates. - Monday, May 11th 2015 [ME NewsWire]
Tejari, the global strategic procurement company, announced today that its client, The Abu Dhabi Department of Transport, has won the coveted ITP Technology .Gov Government-To-Business Service of the Year award for its eProcurement system.
Sponsored by ITP.net, the Middle East’s leading technology website, the inaugural ITP Technology .Gov awards honor the achievements of the government sector in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), specifically in the information and communication technologies field. The awards highlight the success that the Gulf region has made in the field of smart government and its use of information technology.
“ITP.net’s recognition is a testament to the innovative work that we’ve done to create a more efficient and transparent eProcurement process,” said Raed Raqab, Project Manager of the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport. “We are committed to advancing the Gulf region’s usage of technology and are confident that this new service will make it easy for a wider range of suppliers to have the opportunity work with us.” Majeda Mohamed Al Marzouqi, Application Section Head of the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport also commented on the achievement saying “We aim to continue making strides towards developing long term and added-value relationship with suppliers. We believe that with the continued support of Tejari we will continue to set the standard for high performance and efficiency in supply chain management”.
Tejari began working with the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport in September of 2014. The initial partnership was designed for Tejari to support eSourcing activities, program management and contract management – and ultimately led to the creation of the award-winning eProcurement system. The Abu Dhabi Department of Transport turned to Tejari after experiencing the frustration and challenges of operating in a paper-based procurement cycle, which was causing significant communication and transparency issues with suppliers, and resulting in longer cycle time processes.
“The Abu Dhabi Department of Transport has made significant strides in improving their overall procurement and sourcing performance,” said Suhail Al Banna, Chairman of Tejari. “We are committed to continuing to develop and advance easy-to-use eProcurement systems to drive progress and efficiency improvements in the GCC public sector.”
