MiX Telematics, in conjunction with local channel partner Fleet Management Services International (FMSi), have been awarded for the “Best of Use of Technology for Improved Traffic Management” at the ITS and Road Safety Awards 2016. The awards, held alongside the ITS Smart Mobility Forum, recognise companies who have contributed to improving road and driver safety in the Middle East.

The award recognised the MiX SafeDrive solution, which was implemented for a key Oil and Gas customer in Oman. It enabled the customer to overcome their challenge of ensuring all drivers adhered to strict rules when driving in a highly sensitive area. Coupled with consulting services, the MiX solution also allows the customer to monitor all their drivers and assets in real-time, while viewing a host of information through a secure web-based platform.
The solution has also enabled the customer to set up a recognition system for awarding good driving behaviour, thereby promoting safe driving practices throughout the organisation. Following implementation, there has also been a sharp reduction in major driving violations such as speeding and harsh braking.
The ITS and Road Safety Awards happened alongside the ITS Smart Mobility Forum, a conference organised by IQPC with support from the Transpo Group.
