ADP, a Certified International Rescue Diving Training Center

The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) has recently awarded the Emergency and Public Safety Department at the Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations General Directorate an international rescue diving center certification.

This certification allows the ADP Emergency Department to conduct specialized training courses and rehabilitation programs in the field of rescue diving, according to the best international practices adopted in this regard.

Brigadier Mohamed Mayouf Al Ketbi, Acting Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, received on Wednesday the Recue Diving Center Certification from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) delegation, headed by Tony Andrews, PADI’s Regional Manager, South Europe, Middle East, and Africa. This certification is another new achievement for Abu Dhabi Police in the area of emergency and public safety and enhances the efficiency of staff members.

Brigadier Al Ketbi said: “The certification obtained by the Emergency and Public Safety Department recognizes its diligent efforts to implement the highest international standards and practices of rescue diving, and to keep abreast of the latest developments in this regard, which allowed the department to enhance the expertise of its staff members.” He also noted that the training section also includes experienced and highly qualified personnel with international accreditation from the American Heart Association, the International Maritime Rescue Federation, and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

Moreover, he explained that the department has become authorized to issue international certifications to participants in training courses. The PADI international license will be signed by the Emergency and Public Safety Department.

Commenting on the achievement, Colonel Mohammed Ibrahim Al Ameri, Head of the Emergency and Public Safety Department at Abu Dhabi Police said: “Acquiring this international certification provides significant benefits to our professional divers working with the police and with our strategic partners.” He also expressed the department’s readiness to provide the appropriate training to develop the capabilities and skills of divers working with partners in the area of rescue diving.

Furthermore, Colonel Al Ameri said that the certification is yet another addition to the Emergency and Public Safety Department’s record of achievements and complements the efforts to develop work, exchange expertise, and further consolidation effective and distinguished partnerships with the most prestigious and reputable international training organizations and associations. In conclusion, he pointed out that the department will provide community members with the opportunity to take part in the courses carried out by the PADI organization in order to enhance their capabilities to respond to emergency situations. This approach falls in line with the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’s strategy, aimed at achieving the security and safety of society and applying the best global practices in terms of security and safety, according to international standards, and acquiring internationally-recognized certifications to ensure the safety, security, and stability of society in diving and rescue operations.
