ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, February 8th 2015 [ME NewsWire]
The Al Ain General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs organized an educational awareness program for World Cancer Day. The two-day program was organized in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) and the Positive Cancer Foundation. Members and customers of the Directorate received free medical check-ups and education awareness pamphlets.
Dr. Faiza Al Ameri, from the Positive Cancer Foundation, delivered a lecture entitled ‘What Doctors Do Not Tell You’. The lecture discussed topics regarding the relation between physical and mental illnesses. She also noted that there is a direct link between physical illness and internal psychological struggles.
She noted that when someone becomes ill, it is because the body is delivering a message that stresses the importance of leaving behind negative thoughts. This message includes the need to shift towards a more positive and open mind, and to embrace such optimism as a new lifestyle. Dr. Al Ameri provided evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah supporting her claims.
SEHA also participated in the program by organizing an educational workshop that focused on the most prevalent types of cancer and the causes and factors. The workshop also included preventative methods and the importance of early detection for women and men alike as diseases are more likely to be cured when detected during their early stages.
At the end of the program, Colonel Khalifa Matar Al Humairi, Director of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department in Al Ain, honored SEHA and the Positive Cancer Foundation in recognition for their ongoing cooperation and collaborative initiatives with the Directorate in order to spread the culture of health awareness and to educate the members and customers of the Directorate and the community of Al Ain.
