ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, February 23rd 2015 [ME NewsWire]
A search and rescue airplane of the Abu Dhabi Police Air Wing Department, rescued a 37-years-old Asian man who suffered a fractured neck in an accident that took place on board of a ship four nautical miles away from the Emirate of Sharjah.
The Operations Room of the Sharjah Air Wing Section received a communication from the Central Operations of Sharjah Police reporting that an Asian man needs help in the open water.
Brigadier Pilot Ali Mohammed Al Mazroui, Director of the Air Wing Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior pointed out that the search and rescue airplane took off immediately from the Air Wing Section in Sharjah to the incident site with a medical crew onboard. “It appeared that the ship does not have an airstrip for landing the aircraft, so the crew members resorted to their skills to rescue the injured man. They properly placed him in a stretcher as per applicable medical methods, and meticulously winched him to the aircraft,” he added.
Brigadier Al Mazroui noted that the Air Wing Department and its various sections countrywide, along with all pilots and airmen, work around the clock in various places in order to maintain security and safety, and provide assistance when they receive any distress call.
For his part, Brigadier Pilot Abdullah Salem Al Theeb, Chief of the Sharjah Air Wing Section noted that the crews on the board the Aircraft and the Ship coordinated together to successfully winch the injured person to the airplane. Once aboard the aircraft, the medical crew provided the necessary medical care to him, before airlifting him to Al Qassimi Hospital for further treatment.
