Arab Traffic Week Kicks off in Abu Dhabi under the Theme ‘We Care about Your Safety’

Aiming to Foster Traffic Awareness

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, April 17th 2016 [ME NewsWire]

The events of the Arab Traffic Week that is held under the theme “We Care about Your Safety” will provide awareness to community members via showing films, distributing brochures, organizing competitions and an educational village. These activities aim to foster drivers’ traffic awareness.

The activities are organized at Dalma Mall by Saeed Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents in line with its strategic partnership with the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police. It aims to foster traffic awareness and provide a safe road environment, as well as encourage drivers to commit to traffic laws in order to limit traffic accidents and their related fatalities and severe injuries.

Brigadier Khalifa Mohammed Al Khaiaili, Deputy Director of the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate explained that this year’s slogan embodies the Arab World approaches and serious efforts to limit traffic accidents and realize traffic safety. He also stressed on the commitment of the Abu Dhabi Traffic Police to utilizing any traffic event to strengthen social communication and spread traffic culture in order to preserve lives and properties.

He also asserted the interest of Abu Dhabi Traffic Police in supporting social responsibility by increasing traffic culture among drivers in private, public, and educational sectors, who represent the greatest number of road users. He noted that police bodies are utilizing all communication channels including e-messaging, social media platforms, and other means in this regard, with the aim to develop the awareness of the members and provide them with traffic awareness programs via innovative and interactive activities.

Brigadier Al Khaiaili also noted that the theme of the Arab Traffic Week represents the interest of the UAE in ensuring traffic safety. This is realized via regulating laws and other efforts that aim to limit the reasons that lead to accidents and its related causalities.

He also called upon drivers to adhere to designated speed limits and traffic signage on all roads. He also asserted that traffic authorities will not tolerate any ignorance to the traffic laws, especially with reckless drivers who endanger their lives and those of other road users.

For his part, Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Executive Director of the Saaed Society explained that the awareness events of the Arab Traffic Week are organized in cooperation with many national companies, public sector’s institutions, and sponsors. The list of partners and sponsors include Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), Al Futtaim Group, HealthCare Hospital, Emirates Transport, as well as a number of police authorities such as Ambulance and Rescue Department, Community Police, and Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department. These members strive to foster strategic partnership among themselves, as well as strengthening social communication. This aims to maintaining life and property and improve the behaviors of road users to limit all causes that lead to traffic accidents.

He also noted that the exhibition platforms and activities include showing traffic films, distributing brochures, educational village, and traffic workshop for drawing. These activities aim to increase the positive role of drivers in committing to traffic laws to protect lives and properties. The Security Inspection (K9) will also perform Police Dogs Shows, while the Police Musical Band will play some of its music, and 15 schools will perform educational shows.

Colonel Al Ameri also called upon the public to visit the Traffic Exhibition that is held at Dalma Mall until April 21st in order to benefit from the awareness events and accompanying educational and recreational competitions. These events aim to activate genuine social partnership that helps realizing a safe traffic society.
