Abu Dubai Emirate’s Security Zone Championships Conclude

The Abu Dubai emirate’s Security Zone championships recently concluded. The events were organized by the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry of the Interior, represented by the National Teams Branch at the Sports Activity Section. 

The events featured eight competitions that took place at the Abu Dhabi Sailing & Yacht Club and Abu Dhabi Corniche. The Western Region Police Directorate ranked first in three tournaments, namely beach volleyball, race-walking, and swimming.

Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior, indicated that the Abu Dubai emirate’s Security Zone championships were held in three phases. “The first phase took place in Al Ain, the Western Region hosted the second phase, while the third and last phase was held in Abu Dhabi. The championships saw the participation of large numbers of participants,” he said. Moreover, Colonel Al Dhaheri indicated that the Security Zone championships were characterized by rivalry, fair competition and high sportsmanship, and contributed to deepen the ties of affection and friendship between staff members of the Abu Dhabi Police from various departments.

In the road race championship, the Operations Department at the Directorate General of Central Operations came in first place, while the Western Region Police Directorate and the Ports and Airports Security Department ranked second and third respectively. In the beach volleyball competition, the Strategy and Performance Development Department came in first place, followed by the Personnel Affairs Department and the Western Region Police Directorate in second and third places respectively. In the Tug of War competition, Team “A” from the Strategy and Performance Development Department ranked first, followed by Team “B” from the Strategy and Performance Development Department and the Police College in second and third places respectively. It is worth mentioning that the Strategy and Performance Development Department won the final match in the cultural competition, which was held on the sidelines of the Abu Dubai emirate’s Security Zone championships. The Community Police Department and the Office of the Human Resources Director General at the Abu Dhabi Police ranked second and third respectively.

In the race-walking championship, the Operations Department ranked second followed by the Personnel Affairs Department in the third position. In the beach football, the Operations Department and the Community Police Department secured the second and third places respectively. The Operations Department ranked second in the swimming competition followed by the Information and Communication Technology Department (ICT) in third place.

In the rowing championship for individuals, Philp Quick secured first place, followed by Omar Al Hammadi and Mohammed Al Faresi in second and third places respectively.

Towards the conclusion of the Abu Dhabi Emirate’s Security Zone Championships, Colonel Ali Al Shamesi, Director of the Organizational Structures Department at the Ministry of Interior and Saeed Al Muhairi from the Abu Dhabi Sailing & Yacht Club honored the winners. The closing ceremony was attended by Captain Saif Al Dhaheri, National Teams and Competitions Branch Manager; First Lieutenant Sultan Al Faresi, Sports Facilities Branch Manager, as well as a number of officers and a large public turnout.
