Al Sha’far: Importance of Reviewing Recent Developments

On Thursday, the Ministry of Interior concluded its participation at the 35th GITEX Week 2015, held at Dubai World Trade Center. At its pavilion in Sheikh Saeed Hall, the MoI showcased the latest generations of new technologies, alongside other new initiatives and projects. The MoI also presented its advanced systems utilized in supporting electronic and smart services operations.
Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior stressed the importance of participation in the exhibition, in order to acquaint the public with the array of the smart services used by the police, review the latest technical developments in various fields, and leverage the expertise of the participating entities. These comments were made by Lt. General Al Sha’far, as he toured the MoI’s pavilion in the exhibition. He was accompanied by Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior.
Lt. General Al Sha’far listened to detailed explanations given by pavilion’s supervisors about the smart services and software provided by the ministry to the public. He also reviewed the latest achievements showcased by other ministries, local departments, and major exhibiting companies participating at GITEX 2015.
He was briefed by Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shimmari, supervisor of the Ministry of Interior’s pavilion, about key projects and smart software showcased by the Ministry of Interior
Lt. General Al Sha’far expressed his satisfaction for the large-scale attendance and extensive participation by the MoI. He also praised the diversity of software and services provided to the public; stressing that the MoI’s pavilion is a modern tool of communication between the police and community. He also praised the efforts of staff members at the pavilion.
He said: “By participating in the exhibition and introducing new services, the ministry provided an excellent opportunity t for visitors to get acquainted with the projects, systems, and smart services offered by the ministry. It is also an opportunity to gauge public opinion regarding the provided services and to utilize their comments and suggestions to further develop these services.”
As a part of its participation at GITEX 2015, the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, signed two agreements with two major companies specialized in technology and software.
The first agreement was signed by Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police with Belden, specialized in network and infrastructure solutions. The Abu Dhabi Police is currently testing one of the company’s products to assess its suitability with the technical infrastructure of Abu Dhabi Police.
On the other hand Colonel Nasser Sultan Ali Nasser Al Yabhouni, Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department at Abu Dhabi Police signed a cooperation agreement with EXCEED IT. Under the agreement, the company will provide Microsoft certificates and services, as the Microsoft Gold Partner in the region. The company enjoys a strategic relationship with the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters. The company will be providing the required support for installing and operating the systems, as well as regular systems maintenance. Under the agreement, the company will also be providing training for the ICT Department staff members on systems set-up and maintenance.
The ministry’s pavilion witnessed a significant turn-out of visitors, including professionals, partners of the ministry, and members of the public who closely examined the number of services provided by the MoI during GITEX, in light of major developments taking place in the digital world. The Ministry of Interior, via its different leaders and general directorates, is keen to introduce additional smart e-services based on the latest technology, in order to streamline administrative procedures and reach users anytime, anywhere.
