ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, March 22nd 2015 [ME NewsWire]
The Strategy and Performance Development Department at Abu Dhabi Police organized the fourth forum to exchange knowledge and innovative ideas for this year under the slogan: “The Leading Role of Women in the Police Force and the Overall System of Security in the Ministry of Interior”.
The forum was opened by Captain Huda Al Ma’aini, Head of Policies Division at the Strategy and Performance Development Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, and winner of the Feigenbaum Leadership Excellence Award for “Female Leaders” category in 2012. In her opening speech, she pointed out the significant role that Emirati women have played in society. “They hold leading positions throughout the government and all of society, which is reflective of their prominent role in all fields. The Emirati woman is capable of excelling in international fields, whether it be in diplomacy, business, education, medicine, or others,” she said.
Captain Huda stressed that the knowledge forums organized by the Knowledge Center in cooperation with the Policies Division at the Strategy and Performance Development Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, promote the spread of knowledge culture in all policing fields. It also comes in line with the strategy of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters and the strategic plan of Abu Dhabi; and it is considered a chance to delegate and review the expertise, the best applicable practices, and to further exchange and develop knowledge.
Professor Amanda Broderick, Dean of the Business School at the University of Salford, provided a presentation regarding the leading efforts of women and of the internal and external factors which help elevate the status of women. She pointed to the factors that are related to a woman’s character and skills such as: decision making, intelligence, listening, confident public speaking, the ability to initiate, and future-oriented.
Prof. Broderick concluded by saying: “A woman’s leadership traits alone are not enough to rely on in activating her role as a leader. She needs to have the support of a social context that promotes creativity and innovation, regardless of if her role is in a leadership position or not.”
Upon the commencement of the forum, Prof. Broderick was presented with a commemorative shield in the presence of a number of employees of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters.
