WALTHAM, Mass. - Wednesday, May 14th 2014

Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today that it has partnered with the International AIDS Society (IAS) to provide UpToDate® to society members. The partnership was facilitated by the company’s medical journal publishing business, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW). LWW is the publisher of AIDS, among other leading medical, nursing and allied health society journals. More than 850,000 clinicians in 164 countries currently rely on UpToDate to make the right point of care decisions.

“Working closely with UpToDate enables us to provide our members with access to trusted clinical decision support that will help them improve the care they provide. UpToDate has served as a critical resource for developing an evidence-based response to HIV and AIDS. We are committed to supporting our members with information and tools that they need to work even better,” said Bernard Kadasia, Acting Executive Director of the IAS.

The IAS is the world's leading independent association of HIV professionals, with over 16,000 members from more than 176 countries working at all levels of the global response to AIDS. Members include researchers from all disciplines, clinicians, public health and community practitioners on the frontlines of the epidemic, as well as policy and program planners.

“We’re pleased to expand new clinical decision support services from UpToDate to IAS members as part of our Wolters Kluwer Health publishing partnership,” Jayne Marks, Vice President of Global Publishing, Wolters Kluwer Health, Medical Research.

Over many years, UpToDate has developed one of the most extensive and easily searchable resources on current research and care recommendations for HIV and AIDS. The breadth and depth of UpToDate, covering more than 10,000 clinical topics in 21 specialties, equips doctors with direct access to expert recommendations to address a range of AIDS-related conditions beyond their primary specialties.

“Helping IAS members improve the quality and effectiveness of care provided to patients with HIV and AIDS is intrinsic to our mission of improving care around the globe,” said Denise Basow, MD, Vice President/General Manager, UpToDate at Wolters Kluwer Health, Clinical Solutions.
