Brigadier Omair Al Muhairi, Director of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, said: “The skilled and experienced anti-narcotic officers of the Abu Dhabi Police have been vigilant in uncovering and thwarting any attempt to smuggle drugs – regardless of the various concealment methods that have been attempted.” He continued by pointing out that the officers and police members have intensified their investigation, surveillance, and training procedures in order to gain valuable experience in detecting those who abuse or traffic drugs.
Adding further, Brigadier Al Muhairi lauded the efforts of the anti-narcotic officers: “The arrest was highly significant, as it required a great amount of coordination between the officers and the personnel in order to be carried out according to the well-devised plan. The coordinated plan was conducted with high efficiency and professionalism, which contributed to the success of this arrest – and will contribute to the success of arresting any other criminal who intends to implement a similar operation.”
Regarding the details of the incident, Colonel Dr. Rashid Mohammad Borshid, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said: “Following a tipoff regarding an individual who was suspected of possessing and intending to sell drugs, of whom we have identified as “R.A.K”, personnel investigated into the case and validated the information. The Head of the CID continued by describing how the security team located the suspect and placed him under surveillance until the moment of his arrest. Upon questioning, the suspect confessed to trafficking drugs. Following a search of his residence, he was found to be in possession of 20.35 kilograms of hashish in bags; and 3.68 kilograms of heroin in capsules. The drugs were confiscated and the suspect, along with the seized drugs, was referred to the competent authorities for further investigation into the circumstances of the case and for the appropriate legal actions.
Colonel Dr. Borshid emphasized that the success of the team in arresting the suspect embodies the strategy of the Abu Dhabi Police and its preventive role in protecting youth from the evils of this criminal and from his type; and in shielding the UAE and its people from this dangerous scourge.
