Prime Hospital Reiterates Commitment Enhancing Healthcare Sector with Ultrasound-Guided Nerve Blocks

Dubai, United Arab Emirates -Monday, November 20th 2017 [ AETOS Wire ]

Prime Hospital, one of the UAE’s leading healthcare service providers, has achieved another milestone by applying various innovative Anesthetic Techniques developed to bring pain relief to patients after surgery. This is part of the hospital’s continuous efforts to enhance its care for patients, and contribute to raising the health sector’s global competitiveness in Dubai and the UAE.

According to Prime Hospital, the methods combine both conventional General Anesthesia and Ultrasound-Guided Nerve Blocks to keep the site of surgery numb for between 24-36 hours. They have effectively influenced the dynamics of how the hospital efficiently cares for its patients especially after Orthopedic surgeries.

The hospital presently offers Interscalene Nerve Block for shoulder arthroscopies; Axillary Block for all Arm and Forearm Surgeries; adductor canal block for all Knee operations such as Total Knee Replacement and Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstruction; and Tap Block for all Hysterectomies and Gynecological procedures.

Dr. Jamil Ahmed, Managing Director and Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon, Prime Hospital, said: “Prime Hospital is among few medical facilities in the UAE applying this technique in its procedures. We were initially conducting 2-3 of these procedures per week; we are now conducting 6-8 procedures per week. This steady increase is a strong indication that many patients find that Ultrasound-Guided Nerve Blocks are a highly effective method of numbing the pain, post-surgery. The new milestone reflects our relentless commitment to raising the bar in the local health sector and offering superior healthcare solution.”

The process of combining Anesthesia and Ultrasound-Guided Nerve Blocks began less than ten years ago in the US and the UK. Known for their safety, the procedures’ success rate has dramatically increased over the years.

Patients are closely monitored after undergoing any of the procedures. The majority have reported no pain 24 to 36 hours after operation and expressed a high degree of satisfaction.

The procedures have helped Prime Hospital increase the quality of its healthcare management, especially in complex medical cases.
