Production of vehicle license plates
SIEGEN, Germany - Thursday, October 17th 2013 [ME NewsWire]
(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Erich Utsch AG, leading provider of vehicle license plates and registration systems worldwide, has supplied the Australian State of Victoria with innovative, state-of-the-art vehicle license plate embossing presses. The U-Press embossing press (available online) is a new and unique development from the Germany-based vehicle license plate specialist Utsch. It bridges the gap between manual and automatic embossing presses and prevents deliberate and unintentional embossing errors, particularly in jurisdictions with complicated alpha-numeric sequences.
The Australian State authority responsible for license plates in Victoria sought an alternative to their license plate series which was almost exhausted of possible combinations. The existing configuration of three alpha and three numeric characters (AAANNN) had supplied combinations for the jurisdiction for almost 60 years. The license plate ZZZ 999 would mark the end of this series. It was resolved that a more complicated syntax of one numeric, two alpha, one numeric and two alpha (NAANAA) would be used. The U-Press was a perfect match for the increased complexity of the sequences. The U-Press manages the change of the dies and eliminated the possibility of human sequencing errors. The clients were so impressed with the characteristics of the new U-Press that Utsch received an order for the supply of five new U-Presses.
“Since being commissioned, all regulatory license plates for the State have been embossed on our Utsch ‘Made in Germany’ presses”, confirmed Helmut Jungbluth, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Erich Utsch AG. The network-compatible U-Press is now a key element in a comprehensive system that seamlessly combines registration, license plate manufacture and issue, data transfer, statistics, storage, logistics, and quality control. “U-Press fuses the precision and performance of tried-and-tested Utsch embossing presses in an innovative way and meets the demands and security requirements of today’s information society. Features such as a biometric login, optical control of the plates used and exhaustive documentation on all the work processes significantly reduce work costs during day-to-day operations”, added Mr Jungbluth.
