Voith and Franka Emika Form a Strategic Partnership

HEIDENHEIM, Germany & MUNICH -Friday, April 20th 2018 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The technology company Voith and the Munich-based robotics company Franka Emika have entered into a strategic partnership.

Part of the strategic partnership is the establishment of a new joint venture called Voith Robotics – A Voith and Franka Emika Company. The company, with headquarters in Munich, is to become a global system supplier for robot-assisted automation in the digital age. Voith Robotics will offer self-teaching lightweight robots made by Franka Emika, along with software solutions, apps, services and process consulting, to customers in various industries and markets throughout the world.

As part of the strategic partnership Voith will also have a direct stake in Franka Emika, thus emphasizing the long-term and strategic commitment by the two companies to cooperation. Martin Scherrer, formerly a member of the Board of Management of Voith Paper, will be the new chief executive officer of Voith Robotics, which is to be managed by Voith.

The still very young market for collaborative robots, also called cobots, currently has a volume of some 300 million euros and is predicted by industry researchers to grow exponentially in the coming years. The global market volume is expected to come to about 15 billion euros by 2025. Franka Emika is a leading designer and developer of powerful, self-teaching and easy-to-use lightweight robots. They will make it possible for the first time to automate repetitive and often monotonous tasks like finely controlled fitting, screwing and joining, as well as testing, inspection and assembly.

In 2017, the team from Franka Emika received the German Award for Innovation in Science and Technology from President Steinmeier for developing “Panda”, the first highly sensitive, self-teaching lightweight robot. In addition to being applied in industry, these robots may someday assist people in their everyday lives or help with tasks like elder care. The robot series “Panda”, in combination with robot-apps and customized services, will be the future core products of Voith Robotics. The company will offer platform- and manufacturer-independent robotics and automation solutions.

The joint venture will be presented for the first time at Hannover Messe.

“By bringing together a young company with its unique product portfolio and an experienced, family-owned and world-wide engaged company with a global network, we are creating a role model for Industry 4.0,” says Dr. Simon Haddadin, CEO of Franka Emika. “We will be able to offer customers throughout the world a combination of exceptional services and support, based on unique technologies.”

“Through its strategic partnership with Franka Emika, Voith has taken the logical next step in its digital agenda. We have defined robotics as a key competence and intend to add it to our existing portfolio,” says Stephan Schaller, President and CEO of Voith GmbH & Co. KGaA. “Franka Emika and Voith complement each other in an ideal manner by combining robotics, artificial intelligence and digital apps for users in various target markets with our know-how in automation and processes.”

Beko embarks on a Global Mission to Prevent Childhood Obesity with FC Barcelona in support for UNICEF

LONDON-Tuesday, May 1st 2018 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Beko is taking on a global mission to help prevent childhood obesity via its Eat Like a Pro initiative and today, the leading home appliances brand is delighted to announce an exciting partnership with UNICEF and existing sponsorship partner, FC Barcelona and it’s Foundation, to raise €1,000,000 for the cause.

Beko will not only inspire and raise awareness about the global challenge of obesity in childhood, but has a goal to raise €1,000,000 for UNICEF by encouraging people all over the world to share their healthy eating habits on social media. For each #EatLikeAPro post that appears on Instagram or Twitter, Beko will donate €1 for UNICEF. The donation will help children worldwide through various UNICEF programmes, ultimately striving to prevent child malnutrition, in all its forms, including overweight and obesity in children globally. FC Barcelona and Barça Foundation are joining this campaign not only because two of their partners start working together, but also cause the promotion of healthy habits is a central component in Barça Foundation programs.

If current trends persist, by the year 2025, there will be over 70million children in the world suffering from overweight or obesity and Beko wants to change this by raising awareness and supporting a worldwide movement to help children eat healthier. In support of the donation activity, during El Clásico, 6th May – the most watched domestic club match in the world – Beko will give up brand visibility on the players sleeve to highlight its healthy eating initiative, Eat Like A Pro.

The FCB team will unveil its new kit on the day, celebrating the campaign by proudly wearing their sleeves dedicated to the initiative, #EatLikeAPro. The all-star team is inspirational to millions of children around the world and, as heroes for so many young people, will help to encourage children to eat healthier and look after themselves through a balanced and nutritious diet and physical exercise.

The mission and campaign, Eat Like A Pro, aims to grant families access to the eating habits of the team’s finest players educating parents and children from around the world about the importance of a healthy diet and a balanced lifestyle.

With its global presence, UNICEF will strive to eliminate hunger, achieve food security and improve nutrition in children on a global scale. UNICEF promotes the rights and the well-being of every child, with a special focus on reaching the most vulnerable and disadvantaged. The funds raised will help improve the quality of children’s diets and reduce the rising childhood obesity rates. Those sharing their healthy eating posts on social will also have a chance to win a limited edition signed FC Barcelona training and match day shirts, featuring #EatLikeAPro from El Clasico week. Barça Foundation will be supporting this campaign through its media channels, promoting the participation among their more than five million of followers around the world.

Beko’s CEO Hakan Bulgurlu explains, “Childhood obesity is a worldwide issue and we are delighted that three leading global brands - FC Barcelona and two of their biggest partners - are uniting to help tackle the challenge. At Beko, we are striving to tackle this crisis through using innovative technologies that make healthy eating easier whilst raising awareness and donations for UNICEF with FC Barcelona through a social call to action and the sleeve reveal at this year’s El Clásico match.”

Victor Aguayo, Chief of UNICEF Global Nutrition Programme, comments: “Childhood obesity is increasingly affecting the poorer families and countries, largely due to diets that do not provide children all the nutrients they need to grow healthy. We welcome the support of our partners Beko and FC Barcelona, who will work closely with us to bring about positive change for children globally.”

Jordi Cardoner, vice president of FC Barcelona and Barça Foundation, said: “In all our programs that use the FutbolNet methodology, and that are reaching 120,000 children and youth around the world, we use the physical activity and the value of 'Respect,' in this case respect towards oneself, to reinforce healthy habits.”

This specific contribution by Beko, will support UNICEF nutrition programmes in Latin America, where an estimated 23% of school-age children are overweight or obese. This epidemic is increasingly affecting the poorer families and children and UNICEF, with the support of Beko and FCB, wants to change this.

Beko’s aim is simple: to help prevent childhood obesity through awareness raising and education. In partnership with Beko, UNICEF will implement a programme designed to improve the eating habits of 600,000 primary school-age children in Latin America. The initiative is designed to provide the necessary education and support about the importance of healthy eating at home and in schools for children’s healthy growth and development.

Panasonic Is Exhibiting Latest Connected Supply Chain Solutions for Industry 4.0 Realization at CeMAT 2018 Trade Fair in Germany

Introducing product management and robotic solutions which maximize efficiency at each step of the supply chain from factory to warehouse and on to delivery

HANNOVER, Germany-Thursday, April 26th 2018 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Panasonic Corporation is exhibiting its full range of logistics solutions at CeMAT 2018, the world's leading trade fair for the intralogistics and supply chain management sector, which is being held from April 23-27 in Hannover, Germany.

[Video] Highlights of Panasonic at #CeMAT Supply Chain Solutions - Gemba Process Innovation
https://youtu.be/oQq2EEjNSAs

At its booth (Hall 20 / Stand C73), Panasonic is using live demonstrations and video displays to introduce its full line of solutions which maximize operational efficiency at each step of the supply chain from labeling and dispatch error detection at factories, to sorting and loading at distribution centers, on to transportation and proof of delivery. A video display at the front of the booth illustrates the flow of logistics information and material tracking processes from the point of receiving an order all the way to delivery, highlighting the various products and solutions that Panasonic offers to contribute to supply chain operations. Furthermore, Panasonic's group company, Zetes Industries S.A., is exhibiting its unique software solutions for supply chain management and operation.

Providing solutions for each step of the logistics process
In the factory & warehouse solutions area of the booth, Panasonic is showcasing its range of Cloud-based solutions which enable real-time product and asset traceability; quick and easy identification, serialization and aggregation on packaging lines; and easy and faster (no error) warehouse operations for more reliable delivery. Furthermore, an RFID/Image ID Gate system demo shows how parcels passing through the gate can be immediately scanned simultaneously, in units of individual products or pallets, by RFID and/or 2D barcode to reconfirm if the deliverables contain the correct items and quantity.

In the distribution center solutions area, Panasonic's Visual Sort Assist system demonstrates how boxes on a conveyer are traced by sensors, measuring the size, then projecting onto the box the assigned sorting information in numbers and colors. An Automated Transport System which employs a compact-size fork-lift robot to pick up and deliver pallets autonomously to their assigned destination is demonstrated, as well as a wearable Power Assist Suit solution to support the loading/unloading of heavy parcels — thus decreasing fatigue to the user.

In the delivery solutions area, Zetes' proof of delivery software which ensures perfect delivery through real-time control over collection/delivery and management processes is displayed; along with field mobility solutions that maximize and empower service teams to support complex direct store delivery and van sales operations; and user friendly in-store solutions for mobile devices to improve in-store processes by providing real-time on-shelf availability information. Moreover, the company's Smart Locker which enables unmanned pick-up and delivery services of parcels with security access managed by the Cloud is displayed in the booth.

In addition to the solutions areas, a section of the booth is introducing the company's new products, including a Mobile Enterprise Application Platform (MEAP) utilizing MCL Technologies' software which is dedicated to supply chain process execution and full control over mobile device asset management; two new technologies for instant 3D or thermal measurement of parcels using the cameras on Panasonic's TOUGHPAD devices; as well as an array of rugged mobile devices (TOUGHBOOK / TOUGHPAD series) which are able to endure the harsh usage environments of factories, warehouses and delivery networks.

Panasonic's feature-packed devices, software and thorough knowledge of logistic centers enable it to create and propose effective solutions, and thus solve problems in operational processes at each step of the supply chain.

Panasonic as a strategic B2B partner: Gemba Process Innovation
Enhancing our world by providing ever greater convenience is a major challenge for people at any enterprise. Fundamental solutions to complex issues require process innovation at the actual "gemba," where things get made or distributed. Unique insight gained from over a century of manufacturing allows us to propose and enact comprehensive gemba-focused solutions that address today's changing value network. By proactively bringing about innovation within our customers' gemba operations, we are helping to ensure a better life, a better world.
