The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Naturalization, launched a new initiative under the theme "My Documents, My Responsibility". The initiative, organized in collaboration with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), at its Abu Dhabi headquarters, aims to spread awareness among community members, and promote the culture of preserving the national identity, by emphasizing the importance of official documents in the United Arab Emirates.
Brigadier Saeed Rakan Al Rashedi, Head of Naturalization Department, delivered a speech by which he conveyed the greetings of the police leadership to the officials at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), wishing them the best of luck and success for the service of the country. Brigadier Al Rashedi pointed out that launching the initiative stems from the firm belief in the importance of communication and sustainable relationships with the community to achieve the MoI’s goals and values, notably boosting the public’s trust in the efficiency of services provided to them, and the community responsibility towards them.
Adding further, Brigadier Al Rashedi said: “This initiative aims to spread the culture of maintaining the official documents, which represent an integral part of our national identity. Holders of such documents are responsible for protecting them against damage, loss or theft by unethical persons, and must refrain from giving these documents to ineligible individuals, which may expose themto legal accountability.”
Brigadier Al Rashedi emphasized the commitment of the General Directorate of Naturalization to promote awareness of people on the need to preserve the country’s gains and heritage and to instill positive patriotism in UAE nationals, He wished everyone success and prosperity in the service of this country, and in protecting the national gains achieved in all fields under the wise supreme leadership.
Lieutenant Hamad Khalfan Al Sharif, from the Department of Naturalization in Fujairah, gave an introductory lecture about the initiative. The lecture highlighted the importance of maintaining official and unofficial documents and the need to preserve and protect them against damage or loss; in addition to the key features of the official documents in the UAE.
The lecturer also gave an overview of the Ministry of Interior’s applications, and explained the proper ways to access the MoI’s website to learn about the services provided by the Naturalization and Residency sector. He also shed the light on the biometric passports issuance process via the smart applications, and the different types of passports issued by the Ministry of Interior. He also discussed the responsibilities and obligations incumbent upon the official documents holder, the reasons for their loss and damage, and the penalties incurred for the loss of the passport as a result of negligence, as well as the appropriate ways and means to avoid official documents loss.
Towards the end of the event, the General Directorate of Naturalization and the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) exchanged commemorative shields.
The initiative launch ceremony was attended by Dr. Adel Al Ameri, Deputy Director of the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) for Strategy and Communications and Director of the HCT-Abu Dhabi Women’s College (ADWC) ; Lieutenant Colonel Morshed Al Mazroui, Head of the Naturalization Department in Abu Dhabi; Major Ali Awad Al Hassani; Captain Nadia Al Muhairi, Head of Media and Public Relations at the General Directorate of Naturalization, along with a number of officers, officials and students at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in Abu Dhabi.
