AI Takes Center Stage as the Major Threat to Cybersecurity in 2026

COSTA MESA, Calif. - Tuesday, 02. December 2025

Experian releases its 13th Annual Data Breach Industry Forecast highlighting six predictions for 2026 that include several ways AI may have an impact

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Experian® today released its 2026 Data Breach Industry Forecast, offering a look at the evolving cyber threat landscape. The predictions address how the coming year could usher in a new wave of sophisticated attacks driven by artificial intelligence along with other threats and vulnerabilities including quantum computing.

Now in its 13th year, the forecast offers six insights into how cybercriminals are leveraging emerging technologies to create more convincing identities, evade detection, and exploit new digital frontiers. From synthetic profiles and autonomous AI agents to shape-shifting malware and even brain-computer interface vulnerabilities, the 2026 predictions point to a future where cyberattacks are more personalized, persistent, and technologically advanced than ever before.

To download the complimentary paper, go here.

“Technology is evolving at breakneck speed, and cybercriminals are often the first to adopt tools like AI to outpace defenses and exploit vulnerabilities,” said Michael Bruemmer, vice president of Global Data Breach Resolution at Experian. “It’s an uphill battle but organizations can also harness these same innovations to strengthen their security posture. With the right preparation and use of technology, companies can be in a solid position to combat attacks, but they should also be ready to deal with the fallout of a security incident.”

There have been more than 8,000 global data breaches in the first half of 2025 with approximately 345 million records exposedi. Among Experian clients, the top countries hit hardest are the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.

“We’re entering a new era where cyberattacks are no longer just about stealing data, they’re about manipulating reality,” said Jim Steven, Head of Crisis and Data Response Services at Experian Global Data Breach Resolution in the United Kingdom. “Organizations must prepare for threats that are faster, smarter, and harder to detect. The time to act is now.”

To learn more about Experian Data Breach Resolution, attendees at the Financial Times Cyber Resilience Summit: Europe held at Convene in London can visit the Experian table and attend the panel discussion, “How can leaders combat emerging cyber security threats?” including Steven on December 3, 2025, at 4:50-5:30pm GMT.

Consumers Concerned about AI Impact

Experian research among consumers in the United States and United Kingdom shows that many are feeling the impact of savvy attacks and anxious about cyber threats worsening.

Additionally, findings reveal that younger generations are increasingly vulnerable to scams, while many victims feel unsupported after their data is compromised. Consumers question whether the companies they trust are ready to defend against sophisticated cyber threats. Overall, key findings include:

1 in 4 millennial adults surveyed say they’ve been a victim of identity theft in the past year.

Nearly a quarter say they’ve fallen for a phishing attack at home or work in the past 12 months.

More than 4 in 5 are concerned about AI being used to create fake identities that are indistinguishable from real people.

Key U.S. findings:

More than one in three (35%) adults worry about being found personally liable for monetary loss as a result of a cybersecurity mistake at work.

69% do not believe their bank or retailer is adequately prepared to defend against AI-driven cyberattacks or they’re unsure.

Over three-quarters (76%) believe that cybercrime will continue to increase and be impossible to slow down because of AI.

Top UK results:

A quarter of millennial adults (25%) say they’ve been a victim of identity theft in the past year.

One in three (33%) UK adults worry about damaging their professional reputation due to a cybersecurity mistake at work.

Among those who’ve had their data stolen or exposed in a data breach, more than 3 in 5 (62%) did not say the organization provided adequate support.

Halo Infinite and Elysium Senior Concept Designer Ben Mauro Launches HUXLEY: The Oracle - Sci-Fi Prequel Debuts as #1 Amazon New Release

(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ben Mauro, the acclaimed concept artist and worldbuilder behind Halo Infinite, Call of Duty, Elysium, and The Predator, today announced the US release of HUXLEY: The Oracle. The book, serving as the narrative prequel to Mauro’s expanding HUXLEY universe, has already reached #1 in Amazon’s New Releases for Conceptual Art based on pre-orders alone.

HUXLEY: The Oracle departs from the graphic novel format in the first book, adopting an immersive narrative art book format that pairs cinematic, full-page illustrations alongside storytelling. Using a format familiar to readers of Simon Stålenhag’s Tales from the Loop, the book places world-building at the forefront, delivering a large-scale, atmospheric introduction to the world of HUXLEY that is fitting to the new story.

HUXLEY: The Oracle unites a "dream team" of industry heavyweights to bring the desolate machine-ruled world to life. The book features over 100 illustrations from collaborators including Syama Pedersen (director of Warhammer 40k ‘Astartes’), Steve Chinhsuan Wang (Gears of War 5), Nikolas Gekko (Halo Infinite, Destiny 2), and artwork from Mauro himself.

“We approached The Oracle illustrations with the same storytelling and visual fidelity seen in AAA games and blockbuster film,” said Mauro. “This prequel story sets the stage for the events of the original HUXLEY graphic novel and marks the beginning of an epic two-part war story.”

Published in partnership with Thames & Hudson and Read Only Memory, global leaders in visual-culture publishing, The Oracle marks a major milestone in the continued expansion of the HUXLEY universe. Set decades before the original HUXLEY timeline, The Oracle follows Max, an elite Ronin soldier navigating a world ruled by the Oracle Empire during the height of its power. As the AI Wars escalate across the desert planet, Max uncovers a conspiracy that threatens to fracture the very foundations of his world.

HUXLEY: The Oracle is now shipping worldwide.

Eventbrite Enters into Definitive Agreement to Be Acquired by Bending Spoons for Roughly $500 Million to Accelerate Eventbrite’s Next Phase of Growth

 SAN FRANCISCO - Tuesday, 02. December 2025

Eventbrite stockholders to receive $4.50 per share in cash

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Eventbrite, Inc. (NYSE: EB), the leading global marketplace for shared experiences, announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Bending Spoons, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $500 million. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and approvals, including regulatory approvals and approval by Eventbrite’s stockholders.

“For two decades, Eventbrite has stood at the forefront of the experience economy, helping tens of millions to create, discover, and attend unforgettable events,” said Luca Ferrari, Bending Spoons CEO and Co-Founder. “Joining forces with Bending Spoons will accelerate innovation and strengthen Eventbrite’s tools and resources to bring even more people together through shared live experiences for many years to come. As longstanding fans, we’ve identified a few opportunities that we’re excited about exploring with the Eventbrite team after closing the transaction. These include building a dedicated messaging feature, introducing AI for easier event creation, improving searchability, and creating a system for the secondary ticket market. We’re committed to investing in Eventbrite for the long run, and hope we’ll be able to help it reach new heights.”

“Eventbrite helped unlock something profoundly human: the need to gather, to connect, and to build community around the passions we share. What began as an unmet need - to empower local creators and community leaders to bring people together - has grown into a global movement that has shaped millions of meaningful experiences and helped event-goers find their people in moments that matter most,” said Julia Hartz, Eventbrite Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Executive Chair. “There has never been a more important time to bring the world together in real life. As we look ahead, I’m energized by the speed, resources, and innovative power of Bending Spoons to propel Eventbrite into its next chapter. “

Eventbrite would be the latest renowned global brand to join the Bending Spoons portfolio. Last month, Bending Spoons announced a definitive agreement to acquire AOL, subject to customary closing conditions and approvals. The $1.38 billion acquisition of Vimeo by Bending Spoons recently closed.

Details of the Proposed Transaction

Under the terms of the agreement, Eventbrite stockholders will receive $4.50 in cash for each share of Eventbrite capital stock that they own. The per-share purchase price represents an 82% premium over Eventbrite’s 60-day volume-weighted average share price as of market close on December 1, 2025.

The proposed transaction, which was unanimously approved by Eventbrite’s Board of Directors, is expected to close in the first half of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and approvals, including receipt of required regulatory approvals and approval by Eventbrite’s stockholders. Upon the consummation of the proposed transaction, Eventbrite will become a privately held company and its capital stock will no longer be listed on any public stock exchange.

Murata Unveils World’s First 15nF/1.25kV C0G MLCC in 1210-inch Size

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TOKYO: 6981) (ISIN: JP3914400001) announces the launch and mass production of its multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) featuring a capacitance of 15nF, a rated voltage of 1.25kV, and C0G characteristics in the compact 1210-inch (3.2mm x 2.5mm) size. This product delivers highly efficient power conversion and stable performance under high-voltage conditions, making it suitable for onboard chargers (OBCs) in electric vehicles (EVs) and power supply circuits in high-performance consumer devices.

Resonant and snubber circuits are essential for efficient power conversion and suppressing current and voltage peaks. In both circuits, repeated exposure to high voltage and high current can cause even slight changes in component performance, leading to efficiency loss or heat generation and potentially causing malfunction or failure. Recent trends also show a shift in power supply switching devices from silicon MOSFETs to silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs, which enable higher efficiency and faster switching. SiC MOSFET applications require breakdown voltages of 1.2kV, driving demand for capacitors with ratings exceeding this specification. These applications, therefore, require capacitors that maintain stable performance across wide temperature ranges, minimize power loss, and withstand high operating voltages.

Leveraging Murata’s proprietary ceramic and electrode materials, thin-layer molding technology, and high-precision stacking technology, the new 1.25kV MLCC addresses these needs, supporting the latest SiC MOSFET technologies. The inherent advantages of C0G in accordance with EIA standards - low loss and stable capacitance over an operating temperature range from -55°C to +125°C - make the new product ideal for use in both resonant and snubber circuits. For design flexibility, the capacitance range spans from 4.7nF to 15nF, with a tolerance of ±1% to ±5%.

Murata remains committed to further miniaturization, increased capacitance, and higher voltage ratings in MLCCs, while also reducing environmental impact through efficient resource use, waste reduction, and recycling in manufacturing.
