TransFirst and TSYS’ existing merchant businesses will be combined under the TSYS brand to create the 6th largest merchant acquirer in the U.S. based on revenue and the 3rd largest integrated payments provider in the U.S. TransFirst’s president and chief executive officer, John Shlonsky, has been elected as Senior Executive Vice President of TSYS, and will lead the combined businesses reporting to Pam Joseph, president and chief operating officer-elect of TSYS.

The business will continue its focus on the large and growing small and medium size business (SMB) market, enhancing TSYS’ offering and position in the high-growth areas of integrated payments, e-commerce and omni-channel services.

Our position and strength in these three key areas of payments further diversifies our business and makes TSYS unique among its peers,” said M. Troy Woods, chairman, president and chief executive officer, TSYS. “We are excited to have John and his team on board, and believe the growth and expansion of services to the business community will drive long-term shareholder value.”

TransFirst previously operated as a privately held company, under the ownership of Vista Equity Partners.

Training Investment Program for Inmates at the Punitive and Correctional Institutions

Aims to Provide Emirati Inmates with the Opportunity to Join Business Sector following their release

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, March 31st 2016 [ME NewsWire]

The Ministry of Interior announced that the Al Radda Program helps to give former inmates a chance at leading a normal life, to invest their potentials to achieve social good, and grant them a decent life after serving their sentences.

The Punitive and Correctional Institutions Department at Abu Dhabi Police had launched the Al Radda Program in 2012, in cooperation with the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development. This entrepreneurship development and funding program aims at granting Emirati inmates the opportunity to enter the business sector and reintegrate in community after serving their sentences, and to make good use of the investment expertise they acquired by managing their businesses  while incarcerated.

Brigadier Mohammed Saif Matar Al Zaabi, Head of the Correctional and Punitive Establishments Department, said: “The Al Radda Program reflects the Ministry of Interior’s keenness to ensure a prosperous future for inmates of correctional facilities. It aims to give inmates a chance at returning to normal life, to provide them with the means to living a decent life, to invest their potentials to achieve social good  and lead a decent life after serving their prison term.

Brigadier Al Zaabi explained that the program provides a number of services that include specialized training courses that focus on entrepreneurship, consultancy, feasibility studies’ training, and financial support for distinctive and viable projects. It also contributes to provide inmates with a source of income after having served their sentences.

Adding further, Brigadier Al Zaabi said: “Al Radda is a training program designed to provide inmates with the necessary training, professional qualifications and advice, and financing to launch and pursue new investment projects. This would help reintegrate inmates into society after having served their sentences. The program was launched in 2012 at Al Wathba and Al Ain sections, and provides participating inmates with two annual business and management courses.” Brigadier Al Zaabi also noted that upon completion of the courses, trainees receive a graduation certificate, as well as funding if the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development approves the feasibility study following the inmate’s release,

Inmates wishing to enroll in the courses can benefit from the program if they satisfy a number of prerequisites, such as: Being an Emirati citizen, being a convict where the remaining period of imprisonment does not exceed one year, and having a good conduct at the establishment, in addition to business management skills.

In conclusion, Brigadier Al Zaabi noted that the Khalifa Fund has held eight (8) training courses, which saw the participation of 116 inmates, adding that a number of  inmates have benefitted from  financing and support following their release. He also indicated that mutual cooperation with the Khalifa Fund has provided new prospects for cooperation with development institutions and social associations, and enhanced efficient communication with different parties for the benefit of rehabilitation activity.

New Luxury Brand Tallix Launches Fashion-Forward Face Masks to Protect Against Air Pollution

LOS ANGELES-Tuesday, February 27th 2018 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Tallix, a luxury accessories brand, today proudly announces the launch of its first product line, fashionable filtration masks that can protect the wearer from air pollution, flus and airborne diseases. Experienced entrepreneur Giancarlo Tallarico, the son of a Rodeo Drive luxury jewelry family, serves as the founder and CEO of Tallix.

“On Rodeo Drive, I have seen immaculately dressed couples decked out in the finest brands while wearing unattractive disposable face masks,” says Tallarico. “When a dear Japanese-American friend of mine returned home from Japan with the flu because she felt silly wearing a face mask as an American, I knew I was onto something. I set out to create a face mask that would be enjoyable and elegant to wear.”

With 20 designs for women and 13 designs for men, the Tallix face masks feature the finest fabrics sourced from Paris. The same luxurious silks, twills, satin, lace and trims used by the world’s leading fashion brands are now available in medical-grade masks that filter against PM2.5 and other harmful particulates.

“The health benefits of Tallix masks are three-fold,” says Tallarico. “Our masks block incoming pollutants and particulates, block your outgoing cough and flu symptoms from those around you, and lastly block you from touching your own nose and mouth when you are out in public places during flu season.”

The Tallix brand has selected the finest, breathable fabrics to not only provide unrivaled style in their face masks, but to also increase comfort for the wearer. Additionally, disposable filtration liners constructed out of meltblown fabric can be purchased from the company’s website and replaced as needed.

Initially, the masks and filtration liners are only available on Tallix’s ecommerce site, with plans for distribution in major metropolitan cities in the coming year. The brand plans to release further styles in the spring and fall seasons to continually innovate using on-trend colors and fabrics.

About Tallix

Tallix is a luxury accessories brand that seamlessly blends health, functionality and fashion. Tallix brand face masks are inspired by global design trends and provide medical-grade protection against pollution and flu germs. Lean more at Tallix.com.

The Nippon Foundation: Project to Map Ocean Floor by 2030 Now Operational

TOKYO-Thursday, February 22nd 2018 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Nippon Foundation Chairman Yohei Sasakawa announced at a press conference today that The Nippon Foundation – GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project is now operational. The Project will realize Mr. Sasakawa’s vision of mapping the entire ocean floor by 2030. The Nippon Foundation has pledged US$2 million annually, and is calling for additional support from the global ocean community.

Mr. Sasakawa noted, “The Nippon Foundation alone cannot achieve the objectives of this ambitious project. We will need the support of diverse stakeholders, including maritime corporations and technical experts. It is crucial that the ocean community comes together to achieve this goal”.

He was joined by leading ocean-mapping experts, who emphasized that understanding the bathymetry of the global ocean is imperative for improving maritime navigation, and also for enhancing our ability to predict climate change and monitor marine biodiversity and resources. A comprehensive map of the seafloor will assist global efforts to combat pollution, aid marine conservation, forecast tsunami, and better understand tides, wave action, and sediment transport.

Satinder Bindra, the project’s recently appointed director, brings a wealth of experience, having previously worked for major international institutions involved in environmental initiatives and sustainable development. The project draws on the experience of a growing network of more than 28 institutions and organizations around the world. The project will operate in four Regional Centers, each with responsibility for a region of the world’s ocean, with a Global Center based at the UK National Oceanography Center.

Notes to Editors

The Nippon Foundation is a private, non-profit, philanthropic foundation established in 1962. Using revenue from motorboat racing, the Foundation pursues social innovation, assistance for humanitarian activities, and global ocean management, incorporating the ideals of social development and self-sufficiency as it works to improve public health and education, alleviate poverty, eliminate hunger, and support persons with disabilities.

The General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO) is a joint project of the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) and UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC). Originating from the GEBCO chart series initiated in 1903 by Prince Albert I of Monaco, GEBCO is the only organization with a mandate to map the entire ocean floor, and aims to provide the most authoritative, publicly-available bathymetric datasets for the world’s oceans.
