WILLISTON, N.D. - Wednesday, January 15th 2014
Stallion Oilfield Services Ltd. announced today that the Williams County Commission formally approved a settlement agreement, reducing the previously announced fine of $2.6 million to $26,000 in connection with Stallion's temporary housing on its property in Williams County, ND. The imposition of the fine and resultant publicity mandated that Stallion engage counsel and seek redress in court. While Stallion maintains that it complied with the conditional use permit issued by the Commission in September 2013, it has chosen to resolve the matter and dismiss its notice of appeal in Williams County District Court. This resolution is neither an admission of liability by Stallion, nor is one implied by the dismissal of its appeal.
The dispute’s genesis was based on an ambiguity of what constitutes a housing “unit” not on any improper actions of Stallion. The conditional use permit reinstatement by the Commission through May 1, 2014 reflects that understanding and resolves the matter.
Stallion values its relationship with the Commissioners, Williams County, the people of Williston and remains committed to the community as it has since 2005.
